A new start...

There are going to be some changes to this blog. Oooooo, that sounds ominous, right? =P Haha, it’s really not.

Basically, I’ve wanted to get into book blogging for a long time now. And the sad fact is, I just don’t have the time, especially when it comes to the written reviews. I find it hard to express my thoughts in words, and it’s very frustrating when I’m trying to balance writing book reviews with my full-time job and work I have to do for my diploma.  So I’m making a compromise....I look the book-blogging community. But I also love the fantastic book community on youtube. So this blog will be a combination of the best of both worlds. You can expect video reviews, with maybe the occasional written review, as I just find it so much easier to express my thoughts through the form of video. There will also be discussion videos and posts, IMMs, a variety of memes, and other things. There will be both written posts and video posts. I’m hoping this way of doing things will finally mean I get to join the book community like I’ve been wanting to do for a while. Here’s hoping, huh. =)

Lola And The Boy Next Door

Lola and the Boy Next Door
Here's the thing. I like Stephanie Perkin's books. I think she can write wonderfully realistic romances that are enjoyable to read. But, I'm not one of those people that swears by them. I thought that Anna was great, mostly for it's setting. And St.Clair was hot. Not my type, but hot. I liked that book, I gave it four stars. Lola, was good, but didn't work as well for me as it's prequel did.

The Good:

  • Perkins s'till has that talent for writing un-cliche, cute romance with a few giggles.
  • Cricket was cute and totally the type of boy I would go for in my own life. His love for Lola made my heart hurt.
  • GAY DADS.
  • Not just gay dads, but actual, supportive parents in a YA novel. Who actually care about their daughter! WOW!
  • The plotline with Lola's birth mother was done well.
  • It was nice to see Anna and St.Clair again.
  • Every character felt real. There were no characters just shoved in there for filler.
The Bad:

  • Lola annoyed the hell out of me. I WANTED TO PUNCH HER IN THE FACE.
  • IT WASN'T AS GOOD AS ANNA. WAHHHHHHH.
Yes. So as you can see, the good's outweighed the bad. And I maybe shouldn't have compared it to Anna so much. It gets a THUMBS UP from me. If you enjoyed Perkins first novel, you'll like this one. Just don't expect it to blow your mind.

Here I am...

Me and blogs, I'm hoping we'll get along. See, I did the whole diary thing years ago, and it never really worked out for me.

This blog I'm going to use to talk about books and shit. Because I like books. And I like the book community. You're freaking awesome. So here I goooo. Don't expect lengthy, indepth reviews because I'm not that articulate. But I sure can fangirl, and occasionaly rant. Hopefully you'll enjoy!
